Every guide tells you where to post. None of them tells you how many people have to click before the money arrives. Put your income goal in and this works backwards to visitors per day, one line per channel, then prices what a bought subscriber is actually worth.
A page holding 206 subscribers at 40% monthly churn has to recruit 83 new ones every month just to still have 206 next month. Growth traffic is whatever you can find on top of that.
At $9.99 and 40% churn the average subscription lasts 2.5 months and pays you $19.98 after the platform cut. That number, not your budget, is the ceiling on what a paid shoutout can cost.
TikTok can out-deliver a subreddit fifty to one on raw visitors and still lose on subscribers, because intent does not survive the trip. Rank channels on subscribers, never on traffic.
Nobody publishes verified conversion benchmarks for this niche, so we have not invented any. Every percentage in the tool is an editable starting assumption. Replace them with your own tracking-link numbers as soon as you have them.

OnlyFans traffic comes from five places that reliably work: niche subreddits, X, TikTok and Instagram funnelled through a link in bio, and paid shoutouts. How much you need is arithmetic, not opinion. Divide your take-home goal by 0.8 to undo the platform cut, take the share that comes from subscriptions, divide by your monthly price, and you have the subscriber count you must hold. Multiply that by your churn rate and you have the number you must replace every single month before you have grown at all. For a $3,000 take-home at $9.99 with roughly half the income from subscriptions, that is about 206 active subscribers and 83 new ones a month, which at a 1% conversion rate means around 8,300 visitors a month, every month.
The mistake is almost universal. A creator works out that 200 subscribers pays the rent, hits 200, and then cannot understand why the number sits still while they keep posting. Nothing is broken. Subscriptions expire, and on most pages a meaningful share of them expire every month. If 40% of a 206 subscriber base lapses, 83 people leave. Recruiting 83 replacements puts you back exactly where you started, which feels like failure and is actually maintenance.
This reframes what a traffic channel is for. The first tranche of your daily posting pays the churn bill. Only the surplus above it moves the subscriber count. That is why creators who post consistently for months and stay flat are not lazy or unlucky: they have built a channel that exactly covers replacement and nothing more. The fix is either more volume, better conversion, or lower churn, and lower churn is usually the cheapest of the three because it reduces the bill instead of paying it. Keeping the subscribers you already have is covered in more depth in our guide to keeping OnlyFans subscribers from cancelling.
It also explains why the churn field in the calculator moves the traffic requirement more violently than any other input. Halving churn from 40% to 20% halves the visitors you need forever. Doubling your posting output does not.
Ranked by what each has to deliver to produce the same 83 subscribers a month. The conversion rates are the tool defaults, which are starting assumptions rather than measured averages, so read the ordering as the durable part and the exact figures as placeholders for your own.
| Traffic source | Assumed conversion | Visitors per month | Visitors per day | What it is really like |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Niche subreddits | 1.2% | 6,882 | 226 | The highest-intent free traffic most creators can reach, because the reader is already browsing the category. It is also the most rule-bound: every subreddit has its own promo policy and posting cadence, and one ban resets the channel to zero. |
| X (Twitter) | 0.9% | 9,176 | 302 | Allows adult content and permits a direct link, which is rare. The trade is that reach is spiky and depends on reposts, so the same account can do 400 clicks one day and 30 the next. |
| TikTok to link in bio | 0.4% | 20,646 | 679 | The largest audience and the weakest conversion, because the funnel is long and the content has to stay safe for work. Volume has to do the work that intent does elsewhere. |
| Instagram to link in bio | 0.6% | 13,764 | 453 | Converts better than TikTok because the follow is more deliberate, but reach on outbound links is heavily suppressed and account loss is a live risk. |
| Paid shoutout or promo page | 1.8% | 4,588 | 151 | The fastest channel to switch on and the only one with a hard cost per subscriber you can calculate before you spend. Quality varies enormously between sellers, which is what the second calculator below is for. |
| Direct link-in-bio clicks | 2.5% | 3,303 | 109 | Not really a source, it is the last step of all the others. Worth tracking separately because a weak landing step silently taxes every channel feeding it. |
The spread is the point. TikTok has to move 20,646 people a month to do what a subreddit does with 6,882, because a subreddit reader is already in the category and a TikTok viewer is not. Neither number is a verdict on the platform. A creator who can reliably produce short video will beat a creator grinding subreddit rules, and the reverse is equally true. Pick on what you can sustain daily, then measure and adjust.
Divide what you paid by the subscribers it produced, not by the clicks it produced. A $150 shoutout that delivers 2,000 visitors converting at 1.8% produces 36 subscribers, so each one cost $4.17. That is the only version of the number that means anything, and it is the one almost nobody calculates before buying.
Then compare it against what a subscriber is worth. At $9.99 a month with 40% churn, the average subscription survives about 2.5 months and pays you $19.98 after OnlyFans takes its 20%. So $4.17 is a good trade and $25 is not, no matter how impressive the seller's follower count is. The honest caveat: this compares acquisition cost against subscription revenue only. If those subscribers also buy pay-per-view content and tip, their real value is higher and your ceiling rises with it, which is exactly why a sensible OnlyFans price list changes what you can afford to pay for traffic.
A seller quoting followers is quoting a number that costs them nothing. Clicks delivered is the unit you are buying, and a seller who will not commit to one is telling you something.
Every promo seller is a separate traffic source with its own conversion rate. A single tracked test costs less than one bad bulk order and tells you far more.
Bought traffic often churns faster than organic. If a batch renews at half your normal rate, its real lifetime value is half too, and your cost ceiling should move down accordingly.
Only for links you created yourself. OnlyFans reports clicks, subscribers and revenue against each tracking link you generate, and nothing at all about traffic that arrived before that link existed. There is no retrospective view, so the first cost of not setting them up is a month of blindness you cannot buy back. Attribution is also last click, which means the subreddit post that introduced you and the X reply that closed the sale are not credited proportionally.
The practical rule is one link per placement rather than one per platform. Three subreddits sharing a single link tells you Reddit works; three separate links tell you which subreddit works, which is the decision you actually have to make every day. Our OnlyFans tracking link generator builds consistent labels so the report stays readable once you have thirty of them, and the wider OnlyFans analytics guide covers what the native dashboard does and does not report.
Every platform rewards consistency and punishes gaps. Two accounts posted to every day will out-produce six posted to twice a week, and they take less time. Add a third only once the first two are automatic.
Cold platform traffic does not know what it is buying. A free page with paid messages converts it far better than a paid wall, because the decision it asks for is smaller. Warm traffic can handle a price.
It sits between every social platform and your page, so a weak one taxes all of them at once. If TikTok and Instagram both convert badly, suspect the step they share before you blame either platform. See our notes on the OnlyFans link in bio setup.
Suspensions are routine, not exceptional. A creator whose whole funnel runs through one Instagram account is one enforcement action away from zero traffic. Spread the risk before you need to.
Most promo bans are for cadence and format, not content. The rules tell you exactly how often you may post and in what shape. Following them is the entire skill. Our OnlyFans Reddit guide goes through it properly.
Adding volume to a leaking funnel multiplies the leak. If you do not know your conversion per channel, that is the thing to fix this week, and it is a two hour job rather than a project.
You pick two or three channels and post to them daily, rather than spreading thin across six. The channels that work are niche subreddits, X, TikTok and Instagram funnelling to a link in bio, and paid shoutouts. Traffic is a volume problem: at a 1% visitor to subscriber rate, every 100 visitors buys you one subscriber, so the question is always how many visitors per day you can sustain.
Niche subreddits and paid shoutouts convert best because the reader already has buying intent. TikTok and Instagram deliver the most raw volume but the weakest conversion, since the funnel is longer and content must stay safe for work. X sits in between and is the only large platform that both allows adult content and permits a direct link.
At $9.99 a month with roughly half your income from subscriptions, you need about 206 active subscribers to take home $3,000 after the 20% platform cut. At 40% monthly churn that means recruiting about 83 new subscribers every month. At a 1% conversion rate, that is roughly 8,300 visitors a month, or 273 a day, every day.
Divide what you paid by the subscribers it actually produced. A $150 shoutout that sends 2,000 visitors converting at 1.8% produces 36 subscribers, so $4.17 each. Whether that is good depends on lifetime value: at $9.99 and 40% monthly churn, a subscriber stays about 2.5 months and is worth $19.98 to you after the platform cut.
Almost always because the traffic and the page are mismatched, not because the volume is too low. Cold platform traffic arrives with no idea what it is buying, so it needs a free page with paid messages rather than a paid wall. Check your conversion per channel with tracking links before you add more volume to a funnel that is leaking.
It is worth it only when your cost per subscriber lands below their lifetime value, which is usually a much lower number than creators expect. At a $9.99 subscription and 40% monthly churn, lifetime value after the platform cut is about $19.98, so anything above roughly $20 per acquired subscriber loses money on subscriptions alone.
Take your target take-home, divide by 0.8 to undo the platform cut, then divide the subscription share of that by your monthly price. For $5,000 take-home at $9.99 with half from subscriptions, that is about 313 active subscribers, plus enough new ones each month to replace whatever share of them cancels.
Only if you create tracking links first. OnlyFans reports clicks, subscribers and revenue per link you generate, but it cannot tell you anything about traffic that arrived before the link existed. It is also last click, so treat the numbers as directional rather than exact attribution.
The arithmetic on this page is not hard. Producing 273 qualified visitors a day, every day, while also making content and answering messages, is the part that breaks people. FansPromo runs the promotion side so the traffic number stops being something you hope for.
